SimpleX Chat gives you no user identifier: no phone number, no durable public ID. Servers are often community-run.
The product has real use. The company sits in the UK and US and has taken outside capital. A foundation should not buy that cap table.
This grant is a donation aimed at the protocol and at community servers. Independent infrastructure can survive even if the company changes course.
