Session Foundation

Funding the development of end-to-end encrypted messaging infrastructure for activists, journalists, and privacy-conscious users worldwide.

About this project

In an era of increasing digital surveillance, encrypted communication is not a luxury — it is a necessity. Session is a decentralized, end-to-end encrypted messenger that requires no phone number or personal information to use.

Our grant will fund the expansion of Session's onion routing infrastructure, reducing latency and improving reliability for users in high-risk environments. This includes additional server nodes across underserved regions where privacy tools are most needed.

The funding will also support the Session UX team in developing features specifically designed for vulnerable users: disappearing messages by default, decentralized group chats, and enhanced resistance to metadata analysis.

Every dollar directed to Session protects the fundamental right to private communication for journalists, activists, and everyday citizens around the world.
